| With
a pair of hardworking mules and a sturdy wagon, Woodrow Wilson
Godfrey (1919-2002) founded Godfrey Lumber Company in the early 1940s.
Although
he didn't know it at the time, Pop Godfrey's convenient Statesville
location in the North Carolina Piedmont near the foothills of the
Blue Ridge Mountains and the scenic Catawba River, was to become
a crossroad for two major interstate highways: I-77 connecting the
north and south and I-40 joining the east and west.
Today,
after more than sixty years in the lumber industry, our family takes
pride in the fact that Godfrey Lumber Company remains centrally
located and family owned.
Utilizing
hard work, extensive research and the best of modern technology,
our experience and expertise have equipped us to offer our customers
excellent solutions to the lumber demands of todays marketplace.
Our engineering and design capabilities partner with our superb
craftsmanship to provide cost-effective solutions that simplify
coordination and erection at your job site.
Since
Pop Godfrey's first trip with the mules and wagon, we have learned
to nurture the forest and select only the best Eastern White Pine
logs which we carefully craft into products specifically designed
for selective customers. We even put every effort into providing
a special pattern and grade that some may require. And, we are still
small enough to give each and every one of our customers special
attention!
